NEW
YORK, May 25, 2005—The National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII) announced
today the launch of its new Web site, www.neii.org, offering members and guests
a fresh, updated look and easier access to the latest developments within the
association and building transportation industry. Users can now access information
through a simple one-touch, drop-box menu system. Additional user-friendly
options are also featured on the left side of the NEII homepage.
“The newly designed NEII Web site supports our commitment to
building transportation safety and codes that promote the safe use
of elevators, escalators and moving walks, and to being a valuable
resource for important industry issues that further promote the development
of our industry,” said Edward Donoghue, spokesperson for NEII. “Members
and guests can now browse and download more industry information, such
as press releases and safety guidelines, faster since this site was
designed specifically with ease of navigation in mind.”
The Web site is designed to easily accommodate members, guests and
the media. The NEII homepage now displays the latest press releases
underneath the login section, allowing users to learn industry and
association updates at a glance. All press releases will be posted
under the “Newsroom” tab of the Web site along with the
On-Line press kit, which includes background information on the industry
and NEII. In addition, the NEII mission statement is another feature
that will continually change on the homepage. Each time a member or
guest accesses it, a different portion of the mission statement will
be posted, acting as a reminder of NEII’s values and mission.
Members can also login right from the homepage, a feature that in the
past required passing through various “levels” in order
to enter the Members site. Employees of member companies without a
password can also register for a password at the homepage.
The newest edition of NEII-NOW, NEII’s quarterly newsletter
that features the latest information from all sectors of the association
is available via the Web site for all registered users. Additionally,
the password-protected forum known as NEII-Talk will continue to be
an effective method of communication between members. This communication
tool allows members to post messages, upload files and view committee
reports.
Also, in mid-2005, the next edition of the NEII-1 Building Transportation
Standards and Guidelines will be free to all users via the Web site.
Previously, these guidelines were available for purchase on CD ROM
or hard copy only. Now that they are available as an electronic version,
the document can be updated as needed, providing the industry with
the most current industry information at the touch of a button.
Within the “Safety” portion of the Web site, the Employee
Safety guidelines (position papers) now provide content to the industry
such as “Guidelines for Emergency Preparedness” and “Asbestos
Safety.” Within the “Public Safety” segment, a Public
Safety Presentation is also posted. Companies can use information such
as these two documents as a basis for developing their own plans, updating
their transportation codes and standards to meet the safest regulations
promoted by NEII.
