NEII Membership Information

APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED BY A CORPORATE OFFICER

Membership in NEII is available to all persons, firms and corporations which as a part of their regular business, accept contracts for their own account and in their own names, for the manufacturing (including parts or components used by others in the manufacturer, repair or maintenance) installing, repairing or maintenance of elevators escalators, moving walks or related equipment.

The mission of NEII is to foster and promote the interests of its members by promoting safe building transportation for new and existing products and technologies, and adoption of the current codes by local government agencies.

Codes and Standards
Drive the formulation of codes and standards and such practices that will:
  • Provide for the safety of the riding public and encourage introduction of newer and safer technologies


  • Promote communication and coordination with government agencies regarding adoption and enforcement of the latest ASME A17 codes and standards to help ensure the safety of the riding public


  • Encourage deployment of new products and technologies that conform to the latest codes and standards


Safety
Promote public confidence in the quality of its members’ products and offer increased assurance of public and employee safety.

Communications
Be the conduit for communicating industry information to the media and public.

Management
Gather and distribute relevant data relating to industry issues, statistics and matters of common interest.

Education
Promote and support activities designed to increase the industry’s, government’s and riding public’s knowledge and understanding of issues pertaining to the safe installation, service, repair, and operation of building transportation systems.

There are two categories of membership: regular and trust. Additional, there are two classes of regular membership; full and associate. Eligible parties may apply and be granted membership in either or both categories. The following is a brief overview of the membership categories:

FULL REGULAR MEMBER

  • Elect and are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors

  • Participate as members of standing committees.

  • Members and all employees have access to the Full Regular Members area on the NEII Web site.

  • Access to NEII statistics and historical records.

  • Access to NEII CodeFinder local code regulation database.

  • Access to legislation and regulation database.

  • Access to state and local elevator safety board directory.

  • Access to NEII Code and Safety Consultant for consultation on non-proprietary issues.
  • Attend and participate in NEII annual and general membership meetings.

  • Receive the NEII Now e-newsletter.

  • Receive NEII industry communications and general information.

  • Participate in the leadership of our industry.

Full regular member dues will be billed at time of acceptance at number of months remaining in year. Please note that dues are set annually and based on the NEII budget.

ASSOCIATE REGULAR MEMBER

  • Are non-voting and cannot be directors.

  • Attend and participate in NEII general membership meeting.

  • Members and all employees have access to the Associate Regular Members area on the NEII Web site.

  • Receive NEII industry communications and general information.

  • Participate in standing committees if appointed by the Board of Directors.

  • Receive NEII Now e-newsletter.

  • 2007 Annual Associate Regular membership dues are $500.

There is one general membership meeting annually for regular members each spring, as well as regional meetings in various areas of the country. NEII publishes timely bulletins on legislation, codes and safety that affect your business.

This information is provided to regular members of NEII only. All employees of member companies can register for a password at www.neii.org and will receive the benefits of NEII membership.

TRUST MEMBER

  • Available to any company that is an IUEC employer.

  • Separate nominal dues fee structure.

  • Can be both a regular and trust member.

  • No requirement to be a regular member.

  • No regular member participation if trust member only.

  • Only trust members elect the trust committee.

  • Members and all employees have access to the NEII Trust Members area on the NEII Web site.

  • Access to semi-annual Pension, Health and Educational Trustees reports.

  • Access to NEIEP Conduit.

  • Receive the NEII Now e-newsletter.

  • All employees of member companies can register for a password at www.neii.org and will receive the benefits of NEII membership.

  • 2007 Annual Trust membership dues are $2,000. Please note that dues are set annually and are based on the NEII budget.



TRUST COMMITTEE

  • Solely responsible for administering the right and obligations of NEII with regard to benefit plan trusts.

  • Names employer trustees.

  • Must be a trust member to participate.

There is one annual trust members’ meeting to elect the trust committee, and you must be a trust member to participate. The trust committee is solely responsible for administering the rights and obligations of NEII with regard to benefit plan trusts. The committee also names employer trustees.

Trust membership shall be available to those corporations, firms, or companies, that as part of their regular business, employ members of the IUEC and contribute to the benefit trusts (Trusts) established by agreements between the IUEC and NEII.


If your company qualifies for membership in NEII, please select the type of membership desired then click on “Submit” for a membership application. Once your membership application is received it will be presented to our Board of Directors for action shortly thereafter.

Protecting your privacy is important to us. We do not sell or exchange names or other personally identifying information about our members. However by requesting a Firm Membership you hereby authorize NEII from time to time to send e-mail or fax information to all registered Firm Member(s).
