NEII Membership Information

Regular membership shall be available to those corporations, firms or companies that, as part of their regular business, provide or perform any of the following: manufacture (including parts or components used by others in the manufacture, repair or maintenance), install, repair and maintain elevators, escalators, moving walks and related equipment.

Trust membership shall be available to those corporations, firms, or companies who, as part of their regular business, employ members of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC) and contribute to the benefit trusts (Trusts) established by agreements between the IUEC and NEII.

Individual membership shall be available to individual persons who are not employees of companies or members of organizations that are regular members of the Corporation.

NEII, the national trade association of the building transportation industry, was established to promote safe building transportation for new and existing products and technologies, adoption of current codes by local government agencies, and encourage responsible legislation and regulatory measures at all levels of government. NEII fosters and advances the interests of its members in the following areas:

Codes and Standards
Drive the formulation of codes, standards, legislation, regulations and industry practices that will:
  • Provide for the safety of the riding public ;
  • Promote communication and coordination with government agencies regarding adoption and enforcement of the latest ASME A17 codes and standards; and
  • Encourage deployment of new products and technologies that are safer and conform to the latest codes and standards.

Safety
  • Gather and distribute relevant data relating to industry worker safety issues;
  • Develop and promote worker safety practices;
  • Promote safe use of building transportation equipment by the riding public; and
  • Support measures that promote the safety, reliability and performance of building transportation equipment throughout its life.

Communications
  • Be the primary source for establishing and communicating industry positions on matters critical to the building transportation industry.

Statistics
  • Gather and distribute relevant data relating to the building transportation industry.

Education
  • Support activities designed to increase the knowledge and understanding of the safe installation, service, repair, operation, and use of building transportation equipment.

Liaison
  • Maintain constructive communication with its members by providing direct access to NEII information and standards;
  • Provide members the opportunity to participate in the process of defining NEII’s objectives; and
  • Build relationships with other associations and institutions related to the industry through information, tools and support that add value to their organizations and NEII.

Pension, Welfare and Education Trusts
  • Oversee the appointment of NEII Trustees on all trusts resulting from collective bargaining to protect the interests of both NEII Trust members and other contributing companies.

Other
  • Advance those actions deemed by the Board of Directors to help further the interests of NEII members and the general industry, and which conform to the laws and regulations of governing agencies.

There are three categories of membership: regular, trust and individual. Additional, there are two classes of regular membership; full and associate. Eligible parties for trust membership may also apply and be granted regular membership. The following is a brief overview of the membership categories:

FULL REGULAR MEMBER

  • Elect and are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors

  • Participate as members of standing committees.

  • Members and all employees have access to the Full Regular Members area on the NEII Web site.

  • Access to NEII statistics and historical records.

  • Access to NEII CodeFinder local code regulation database.

  • Access to legislation and regulation database.

  • Access to state and local elevator safety board directory.

  • Access to NEII Code and Safety Consultant for consultation on non-proprietary issues.
  • Attend and participate in NEII annual and general membership meetings.

  • Receive the NEII Now e-newsletter.

  • Receive NEII industry communications and general information.

  • Participate in the leadership of our industry.

Full regular member dues will be billed at time of acceptance by the NEII Board of Directors at number of months remaining in calendar year. Membership will be effective at time dues are received by the NEII office. Please note that dues are set annually and based on the NEII budget.




ASSOCIATE REGULAR MEMBER

  • Are non-voting and cannot be directors.

  • Attend and participate in NEII general membership meeting.

  • Members and all employees have access to the Associate Regular Members area on the NEII Web site.

  • Receive NEII industry communications and general information.

  • Participate in standing committees if appointed by the Board of Directors.

  • Receive NEII Now e-newsletter.

  • Annual Associate Regular membership dues are $500 per calendar year.

  • Annual Associate Regular membership dues ($500) plus unlimited CodeFinder reports ($1500) for all employees - $2000 per calendar year.

Associate regular member dues will be billed at time of acceptance by the NEII Board of Directors. Membership will be effective at time dues are received by the NEII office.



TRUST MEMBER

  • Available to any company that is an IUEC employer.

  • Separate nominal dues fee structure.

  • Can be both a regular and trust member.

  • No requirement to be a regular member.

  • No regular member participation if trust member only.

  • Attend and participate in NEII annual trust member meetings.

  • Elect and are eligible to serve on the Trust Committee.

  • Only trust members elect the trust committee.

  • Members and all employees have access to the NEII Trust Members area on the NEII Web site.

  • Access to semi-annual Pension, Health and Educational Trustees reports.

  • Access to NEIEP Conduit.

  • Receive the NEII Now e-newsletter.

  • All employees of member companies can register for a password at www.neii.org and will receive the benefits of NEII membership.

  • Annual Trust membership dues are $2,000 per calendar year.

Trust member dues will be billed at time of acceptance by the NEII Trust Committee. Membership will be effective at time dues are received by the NEII office. Please note that dues are set annually and are based on the NEII budget.



INDIVIDUAL MEMBER

  • Are non-voting and cannot be directors.

  • Members have access to the Individual Members area on the NEII Web site.

  • Receive NEII industry communications and general information.

  • Receive NEII Now e-newsletter.

  • Annual Individual membership dues with 50 CodeFinder reports - $500 per calendar year.

  • Annual Individual membership dues with unlimited CodeFinder reports - $1000 per calendar year.

Individual member dues will be billed upon completion of the membership application. Membership will be effective at time dues are received by the NEII office.
